Hello. This is a quick update to let people know that I am still here and working on a few small updates to the site. A new references page has been added in this update.

A few months ago I ran out of disk space while posting new cover scans. I have recently secured additional web storage space and will be moving most (if not all) of the site over to the new host. This change should be transparent to most people, assuming that you have linked or bookmarked. I will post a forwarding page at the old hosting site.

Note that my new magazine Mythos Collector #1 is still available. Issue #2 will be in print by the end of January 2002. Please visit the main web site at www.darktreepress.com for ordering information.

'Till next time, keep on reading the comics!

Welcome to the 2nd anniversary update! That's right, this site has been going strong for two years now. The response I've gotten over the last couple of years has been tremendous, far exceeding anything I had thought possible. Thanks to all who have signed the guestbook, sent me emails, or just plain stopped by to check things out.

Many updates this time including new comic and fanzine listings with cover scans. Also there are a few scattered info updates (i.e. EC comics) thanks to an article from Strange Aeons #13. More new listings coming for the following comics once I get more info:

Batman: The Doom that Came to Gotham
Oni Double Feature #6, 7, 8 (collected as trade
edition as "Only the End of the World Again")
Still waiting to hear more details about this year's NecronomiCon 5 convention. Definitely planning to attend assuming it is still on.

My new magazine Mythos Collector is still accepting submissions of non-fiction, fiction, poetry, artwork, and reviews for inclusion in the premier issue. I'm hoping to have the first issue ready by the Summer of 2001. Please take a look at the submission guidelines. Also please visit the main web site at www.darktreepress.com for more information.

'Till next time, keep on reading the comics!

Hello. Just a quick update to correct a couple of things since my last update. This web site has joined the Mythos Compliant campaign. Go Cthulhu!!! Also other site updates are coming very soon. I promise.

Last time I mentioned I was launching a new magazine called Lovecraft Comic Collector. The magazine has since been renamed to Mythos Collector. This will hopefully allow me to have much more freedom to cover topics outside of just comics. I am now accepting submissions of non-fiction, fiction, poetry, artwork, and reviews for inclusion in the premier issue. I'm hoping to have the first issue ready by the Summer of 2001. Please take a look at the submission guidelines. Also please visit the main web site at www.darktreepress.com for more information.

Hello. I finally got around to setting up all the links to the larger cover scans. The images have been posted for a while, but I couldn't seem to find the time to update the listings. More updates are coming including some new comics and covers, and a new featured comic.

I just registered the domain www.hplcomics.com with NameSecure.com and already have it pointing to this very site. Mainly I just wanted to secure the name and gain the flexibility to relocate the site to another server if the need should arise. For now, all the old links will still work fine.

I'm please to announce the launch of Lovecraft Comic Collector magazine. I am now accepting submissions of non-fiction, fiction, poetry, artwork, and reviews for inclusion in the premier issue. I'm hoping to have the first issue ready by Jan/Feb of 2001. Please take a look at the submission guidelines. Also please visit the main web site at www.darktreepress.com for more information.

A new adaptation of "The Call of Cthulhu" from Cross Plains Comics has appeared recently. It was adapted and drawn by Esteban Maroto. A scan of the excellent Frank Brunner cover coming real soon. Any Lovecraft comic fan would do well to check other titles by Cross Plains, since they are publishing much of Robert E. Howard's non-Conan material in the comics medium.

'Till next time, keep on reading the comics!

I've been away for far too long. We now have a new baby in the house, so it's been very hard finding time to make any new updates to the site.

I've also been distracted by other interests such as writing and publishing. I'm considering starting up a digest sized magazine called "Lovecraft Comic Collector". It will feature articles, reviews, interviews, and other tidbits about Lovecraft comics. It will also feature at least one Mythos story and perhaps a poem or two. Please let me know if you would be interested in reading, buying, subscribing or even contributing to such a magazine.

Though all the large cover scans have been uploaded, I haven't updated all the necessary hyperlinks. Hope to do so very soon. I just got the panels of the new featured comic scanned and uploaded. Check it out!!

Check out the new Lovecraft Web Ring on the main page. It's a small but growing ring of Lovecraft related web sites.

Finally had time to get back to some much needed updates. Just uploaded large cover scans for all the comics. This should make browsing the site a little more pleasant now that you can get a better look at the covers. Hopefully the new hyperlink colors are a little more pleasing to the eye. I'm trying to go for a color scheme here, so please let me know what you think. Oh, in case you hadn't noticed, this site is now Y2K compliant!!

So has everyone finished their Christmas shopping? I'm basically done, just need to get a gift certificate to a used book store for my wife. Christmas should be fun this year, and I'll be spending New Year's Eve at home with the family and staying off the roads.

During the break between the holidays I will be setting up a new featured comic (most likely the Heavy Metal issue), and trying out a prototype page for the comic reviews. If anyone out there would like to contribute any reviews of comics, please contact me via email, and I'll be happy to post them giving you full credit for your efforts. I'd also consider multiple reviews for the same comic in case people have differing opinions on them.

Though it may take a few months to get arranged, I will be attempting to interview a few comics professionals who have worked on Lovecraft adaptations. So stay tuned to these pages for updates...

Just got back from Necronomicon IV and I'm still sorting through the new books and magazines I picked up. I was more than a little bummed to see a distinct lack of comics in the dealer room. Still had a good time and got to meet several artists and writers.

I talked with C.J. Henderson at the party for quite awhile about his recent and upcoming work. If you get a chance, definitely pick up the newly published book "New Mythos Legends" from Marietta Publishing. It's got 2 of C.J.'s Anton Zarnak stories as well as stories by 14 other authors. The book is also beautifully illustrated by the likes of Allen Koszowski, Jeffrey Thomas, and Wayne Miller.

In fact, Allen Koszowski was at the convention, selling some his wonderful original pen and ink drawings as well as reproduction prints. I picked up a great small original piece of an astronaut about to be pummeled by a huge monstrous space creature. Too cool...

I got to meet and talk with Robert Knox while roaming around the dealers room. Mr. Knox is another great horror and fantasy illustrator. I picked up one of his older pieces from his bargain box for only $5.00. What a great deal?!?! Mr. Knox told me he is also a big fan of Lovecraftian comics. So hopefully he will do me the honor of checking out my humble web site.

I also got to talk with the guest artist Jason Eckhardt about his wonderful illustrations he's done for Necronomicon Press. I asked him to autograph a few of my favorite Necro press booklets. We also talked briefly about Lovecraftian comics.

And once again I got to hear two of my favorite writers give readings -- Darrel Schweitzer and Don D'Ammassa. This year's guest of honor was Fred Chappell. Mr. Chappell is a very laid back gentleman from the mountains of North Carolina and is probably most well known for his poetry. But he has written some excellent horror and fantasy stories over the years, including the novel "Dagon" and several short stories in the Lovecraftian mold.

That's pretty much it for my convention report. Stay tuned for some more improvements on the site, a new featured comic, and hopefully the long awaited comic reviews.

Necronomicon IV is only 5 weeks away! Have you bought your membership yet? How about your Cthulhu breakfast tickets? No? Then what are you waiting for?!? I am planning on being there for the whole convention, Friday evening through Sunday. So hope to see some of you there!

It's been two years since the last convention and alot has happened since then. There are certainly many more Lovecraft related web sites out there. I have been amazed at the response this site has gotten. There have been about 200 hits since it went online. I really expected to get only a few of my friends to look at it, and then that would be it.

So far it's been alot fun and not too much work. I am hoping to make a few more updates in the near future, like a new featured comic. I've been considering starting a quarterly newsletter done either as email or as a printed publication. What do people think?

Well that's all for now. Keep reading the comics!
