Old Computers

Computers have been a big part of my life since I was about 12 years old. Back then my father built a computer from a kit. The kit was the RCA Cosmac Elf shown below. Over time he added a BASIC Rom, video interface, cassette interface, and even a whopping 32K of RAM. I learned about BASIC programming and even a little machine language. I also wrote a very primitive computer game that was sort of inspired by Space Invaders.

Shown below are two main sections -- pictures of systems that I have used during my development as a software engineer and pictures of systems that I actually still own. I have recently re-discovered an interest in the history of old computers and the people who made them. I am looking to acquire a few of those old machines (see my want list).
